CNN Vs the Bible
CNN Vs the Bible
IT WAS EXACTLY 37 YEARS AGO - JUNE 1, 1980 - WHEN TED TURNER III LAUNCHED CNN AND CREATED 24/7 CABLE-NEWS!
CNN Vs the Bible
It's really the sign of the end of times when CNN pretends to be an authority on interpreting the Bible. I say that half jokingly.
CNN has never stood up for or even remotely propagated anything true that the Bible says about God or His Holy standards. Therefore, it never ceases to amaze me when CNN tries to educate (or re-educate) its mostly incredulous and naive readers about Jesus Christ - The Lord, the God and the only Saviour.
Recently CNN published an article during Lent, the period of time leading to Easter, with the heading: "5 things you didn't know about Jesus".
In other words what they mean is this: "Allow us, we that hate God's values and disagree with His holy word, to tell you what we think about God and want you to believe as absolutely true."
You can read the 5 points from the link below. I'm only interested in lambasting the last and most ludicrous point which says "Jesus didn't want to die".
The Lord Jesus did say, "Father, if it's possible, take this cup away from Me. Nevertheless, not My will but Yours be done." *
I don't see Jesus saying "Father, I don't want to die."
The long and short of Jesus' prayer is that He couldn't bear the thought of being separated from the Father. But Jesus is going to have to become Sin** for the sake of humanity's redemption, and during the moments of the Son becoming Sin (a concept beyond our natural comprehension) the Father's holy eyes cannot look upon His beloved Son.*** Which is why Jesus asked for the cup of suffering to be removed.Which is also why Jesus cried out "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me."****
It is beyond our capacity to truly grasp the immense pain of separation the Father and Son and Holy Spirit would experience because of humanity's rebellion against God. In all of eternity they had never been separated. And the separation happened because of us.
But don't expect CNN to explain this truth to it's shallow subscribers.
The amazing thing about the Bible is that it's a Book that explains itself.
If one would turn off CNN and opened a Bible, they would hear God speak and explain His awesome truth. And thank God we are living in a day and time where we can read His truth in our own language.
