THE PATRIARCHS
God needed a particular nation to be a special instrument to present his truth, his name and nature, to the world, and he chose the Hebrew people, or 'the Israelites', as they are also called.

Genesis means beginnings, and it describes the origin of the world, and of sin in the world, before going on to the call of Abraham to be God's servant, and 'father' of the Israelite race. It follows this with an account of leading events in the lives of Abraham's immediate successors and
fellow patriarchs - Isaac and Jacob.
