With its homophonic character, the E major French Suite stands out among Bach’s works for keyboard instruments. It cannot be ruled out that individual movements or even the whole work may originally have been written for another instrument. It is this peculiarity that has been exploited by the internationally well-known baroque flutist Benedek Csalog in transcribing five suitable movements of this suite (Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Bourrée, Gigue) for the flute. In making the transcriptions, he took the German flute music of the 1720s and 1730s and the flute-playing practice of that period as his starting point.
Az E-dúr francia szvit homofon jellegével kitűnik Bach billentyűs hangszerekre írt művei közül - az sem zárható ki, hogy egyes tételei vagy akár az egész mű eredetileg más hangszerre íródott. Ezt a sajátságot használta ki a nemzetközileg ismert barokk fuvolás, Csalog Benedek a szvit erre alkalmas öt tételének (Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Bourrée, Gigue) fuvolára való átírásakor. Az átiratok elkészítése során az 1720-as, 30-as évek német fuvolazenéjéből, s a fuvolajáték korabeli gyakorlatából indult ki.
