Jakob Kroeker
Jakob Kroeker was born in southern Russia in a Mennonite colony. After moving to Crimea with his parents in 1881, he completed his teacher training at a private school in Simferopol. His Christian faith began to take shape during his youth, especially after attending an event where Abraham Friesen spoke about his missionary work in India. Motivated by his newfound faith, Kroeker went on to study theology in Hamburg and later worked as a traveling preacher to the Mennonite communities throughout Russia.
