English Summary:

A Murder of Crows is a 1998 thriller film directed by Rowdy Herrington and starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Tom Berenger. The movie opens with Lawson Russell (Gooding) narrating his own story from prison. Russell is a Louisiana-based criminal defense lawyer who has a crisis of the conscience while defending wealthy childhood friend Thurman Parks 3rd. Parks is accused of rape and murder of a stripper but pleas innocent. Judge Wiley Banning, Russell & Parks conspire together to have the charges dismissed. However Lawson knowing Thurman is guilty attempts to recuse himself from the case. Judge Banning refuses to accept Russell's recusal and threatens to end his career. Russell reluctantly enters court and accuses Parks. Russell's accusations in court results in a mistrial. Judge Banning has Russell disbarred for life. 13 months later, Russll is retiring in Key West as a fishing guide and decides to write a book about his experience. He suffers from perpetual writer's block while working on his book. Russell befriends an elderly customer named Marlowe. Marlowe tells Lawson that he is a former teacher and recent widower. Lawson finds Marlowe suspiciously odd but dismisses his concerns after spending the day with him. The next day Marlowe brings over his manuscript and ask Russell to read it. When attempting to return the manuscript that afternoon Russell is informed by detective Goethe that Marlowe has unexpectedly died and since he has no next of kin his body will be cremated and his possessions will go to the state. Russell decides to pass the book off as his, and he becomes a huge success. Russell relishes in the fame and luxurious lifestyle he acquires. Russell even begins a sexual relationship with his publicist Janine.
